Heartstrings

11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. Saturday
Heartstrings is a Portland, Oregon based husband-and-wife duo playing "music for all times" — period and historical as well as contemporary.

Nancy plays the hammered dulcimer, a unique folk instrument with many courses of strings which, as the name implies, are struck with little wooden hammers. The sound is something like a harpsichord. Nancy also plays violin/fiddle. Rob plays a stand-up string bass.

With backgrounds in classical and church music, Nancy and Rob are equally at home playing Bach or "Whiskey Before Breakfast." Their offerings include folk songs, traditional Americana, "vintage" tunes such as "Five Foot Two", hymns, classical favorites, seasonal music, songs of the Civil War, patriotic standards, and popular fare.

Joe Stoddard

1:00 p.m. - 2:00p.m. Saturday
Community Park - Crawdad Stage
One man, High Energy Music and Comedy Show.

Joe's Biography:
Most entertainers write these corny biographies themselves. They search desperately back in time, exaggerating their accomplishments in an effort to convince us that they are talented.

Personally, I refuse to draw attention to the fact that I have worked with such greats as: The Beach Boys, Ricky Nelson, The Oak Ridge Boys, and Rich Little.

My having performed with people like: Loretta Lynn, Pat Boone, Jim Stafford, Mickey Gilley, Jan & Dean and many, many others is unnecessary information and need not be considered.

What possible good would come from my bragging about the fact that I have been performing for more than twenty years at literally hundreds of functions, including, but not limited to Conventions, Dinner Shows, Comedy clubs, Colleges, State and County Fairs, Festivals, Ski Resorts, Cruise Ships and every other type of engagement you could possibly imagine! So let me not break my arm patting myself on the back as many others do.

Joe Stoddard's unique blend of music and comedy is so dangerously funny that his show comes with the warning, "People have been known to laugh the lips right off their faces." Along with his great sense of humor comes a deep rich baritone voice that adds to the mix and completes his wonderful combination of Music and Comedy.

Having recently played in a wide variety of acoustic bands in Portland (Whiskey Puppy, Flat Mt. Girls, Little Joe, Redwood Highway, The Buds of May), this band formed out of Josh's enthusiasm for playing traditional Bluegrass. Inspired by the pure, time-honored stylings of The Stanley Brothers, you can be sure to get a solid, fast paced stage performance from this bunch of hooligans.
